School Announcements for Wednesday, May 16th – Day 1


 

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES

  • GSA News:  Christin Milloy is a Canadian Politician and LGBT activist. She was the first political candidate at the Canadian provincial level to publicly identify as transgender. She helped lead the Trans Pride march, and campaigned for transgender rights and gay-straight alliances for LGBT youth throughout her career.
  • The MRHS GSA will be celebrating International Day Against Homophobia Thursday, May 17th by spreading awareness and promoting diversity throughout the week and a flag raising on Thursday. Show your support on Thursday by wearing something brightly coloured!!
  • Congratulations to the Grade 10 Core French Face aux Questions team who placed first at the competition last night.  Alex Christ, Yamel Gamboa, Kelsea Garnett, Marta Llavero and Sarah O’Keefe took home the trophy!
  • A reminder Senior Brass Ensemble will be on Friday at 8 am this week.
  • There will be an Environment Club meeting Thursday during Senior lunch in Mrs. Rector’s room, rm 206.  All are welcome to attend.
  • Any students who will be attending the Police Day activities with Ms. Lemon are asked to meet in Ms. Lemon’s classroom at 12:45.

 

ATHLETICS

  • There will be a Girls Rugby meeting @ 12:30 in the New Gym Lobby on Thursday.  There is no rugby practice this week.
  • Track practice takes place Thursday 3:30 – 5:00 at Rotary Park.
  • The Girls Softball team have a pre regional game in Bridgetown today. Be there for warm up at 5:30pm.  The team practice Thursday and Friday at Rotary 3:30-5:30

 

STUDENT SERVICES

  • Graduating Students – as you finalize your plans for after graduation, be sure to let Mrs. Arthur know if you receive an offer of an entrance award.  If so, bring the documentation to Mrs. Arthur so you can be recognized during Graduation.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • Nominations for Senior Student Council Cabinet positions for next year are open.  Please see committee responsibilities posters in the senior hallways for more information or ask any current Student Cabinet member.  If you are interested in a position, please see Mr. LeBlanc or Ms. Greenlaw by Friday, May 25th.
  • A Blue Camouflage lunch box was found on the route 83 bus Monday afterschool – it may be claimed at the office.
  • The Town of Middleton Youth Ambassador application forms are available in the Student Services office.  Any Grade 11 student interested is asked to pick up a form; applications must be in by June 4th.
